Feb 1888" inscribed on the half title. Printed opposite the title page is a note about a resolution to offer the thanks of the Houses of Commons to Lord Ripon for his sermon and an instruction to print this work, proposed by two people, one of them Mr William Henry Smith, the Bookseller and newsagent, who was the recipient of this copy. Finely bound, with the original printed front wrapper included, by Zaehnsdorf in full dark brown morocco. boards with ten ruled line borders within two gilt ruled ones. Front board with the full title and date lettered in gilt. Spine ruled in blind and gilt. Lettered in gilt. Inner boards with ruled, dotted and wavy lined borders. Gilt binders name to the bottom of the front inner board and their circular gilt stamp to the rear inner board. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. A fine copy.
